Welcome to the

for the Archdiocese of Sydney

A database of Catholic women was requested by many participants
during the research phase leading to "Woman and Man: One in Christ Jesus"
and this proposal was supported by the bishops of Australia.
The Archdiocese of Sydney has taken up this initiative for the Church in Sydney
and we invite you to participate in it.

A Statement about the Catholic Women’s database

Cardinal George Pelleginning with Mary Magdalene, who was the first to proclaim the Resurrection, women have played a decisive role in the work of evangelisation throughout history. This task, and the need for women to play their part in it, is no less urgent today.

This project is about finding new ways of encouraging Catholic women in Sydney to renew their commitment to meeting this challenge. I also hope it will assist in helping people to appreciate the depth and breadth of talents women contribute to the ongoing mission of the Church.

This database will become an important resource for the Archdiocese in its efforts to facilitate the participation of women in the Church and I commend it to the women of Sydney.

+ Cardinal George Pell, Archbishop of Sydney
